Back in February 2013, Michael Lynch opened up his first restaurant, Miles Table named after his son. The area where he lived needed “a casual spot for quick, pleasing and fulfilling meals; a place where you could eat in or take out, meet with friends or relax while sipping on a decent cup of coffee.” This BYOB restaurant is delicious and totally unassuming. As a graduate of The Restaurant School at Walnut Hill College, the focus at this restaurant is on serving guests uncomplicated dishes that are both flavorful and freshly made; quality and convenience at a reasonable price.
Walking inside the restaurant, customers will glance over the menu displayed large on the wall by the register. Stop by for breakfast (served until 5 pm), lunch, and brunch specials offered on Saturday and Sunday. First place your order and pay, then take your order number to the table. *Hint: during busier hours we like to designate one person to grab a table while the rest of us wait to place our order. We can assure you that you will be pleasantly surprised when your meal is brought out. Each table is also given a carafe of ice water and mason jars to drink it (so ideal for weekend brunches).
For all the brunch lovers like us, you cannot miss this gem, the service is much faster than pretty much anywhere else and the food far surpasses a greasy breakfast sandwich. ALWAYS check out the brunch specials board because they are amazing and always changing. We really loved the Fried Chicken and Waffles with chorizo sausage gravy ontop of cheddar, jalapeno waffles. Our friend was very impressed with the Huevos Divorciados (their spin on Huevos Rancheros with red and green salsa and fried chicken). Miles Table also got other knockouts like the El Guapo Burrito, Nutella French Toast, Carnitas Benedict, or Shrimp and Grits.
And you won’t want to miss the new Fall additions to the menu. Start off your lunch or dinner with the Fall Guacamole made with roasted butternut squash, toasted pepitas, and goat cheese served with homemade blue corn chips. This guacamole has all the fall flavors you love mixed in a unique way. The Chicken Tortilla Soup is also ideal for warming up on a chilly day its got pastilla broth, avocado, and crema. You can also add a half or whole Grilled Cheese to make it a meal!
Some of the other appetizers we love include the decadent Short Rib Fries soaked in jalapeno cheddar sauce, and mixed with peppers and onions. These fries are the ultimate in comfort food and if you’re a cheese lover like us you also can’t forget the Crawfish Mac & Cheese. The Fried Brussels Sprouts also might be one of the best ways to eat your veggies crispy with bacon, Parmesan, almonds, and mustard maple glaze.
And for dinner you’ve also got lots of options for the main course like Ropa Vieja with braised short rib, escabeche, rice and beans or Spanish Paella with chicken, house-made chorizo, shrimp, escabeche, pastilla sauce and saffron Rice. For lunch or dinner you can enjoy the Thai Fried Chicken Sandwich with sambal chili glaze and apple fennel slaw.
Be sure to check out their large entree salads, also available for lunch or dinner. the Molly Kale salad is a big hit made with avocado, dried cranberry, toasted almond, orange slices and citrus yogurt dressing. Michael’s favorite is the Miles Salad with spring mix, goat feta, butter toffee pecans and balsamic.
They’ve even got some flatbreads on the menu. Be sure to check out the Kennet Square with truffle cream, mushroom, Gruyere, and arugula or the White with roasted garlic, fresh mozzarella, basil pesto, and grilled chicken. Miles Table is also well knows for their Falafel Burger with tahini and feta. New to the menu is the Chorizo Burger with avocado, salsa verde, mozzarella, pickled cabbage, and jalapeno. Don’t miss every Wednesday is half-priced burger night so you can grab the Miles burger (without bacon) or Turkey burger for $6 and the Falafel burger for only $5! All of these are served on a soft brioche bun with hand cut fries. They also have gluten free buns, sliced bread, and biscotti available. This is certainly one of the best burger deals we’ve found and their is never one french fry left on the plate.
