Clementine’s Stable Cafe

Philadelphia is a truly unstoppable city with extremely passionate business owners and we are so happy to work with them to share their restaurants. Clementine’s Stable Cafe is a new restaurant to open amidst the pandemic at 631 North Broad Street only a few blocks down from The Met Philly. The concept is created specifically with the neighborhood in mind; brought to you by Dan and Alex Greenberg, the owner’s of Tela’s Market & Kitchen. Nearby at 1833 Fairmount Avenue, Tela’s Market and Cafe is a combination grocery and restaurant serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

We could not wait to stop by and try Chef Leo Forneas  “American brasserie-style” menu served at Clementine’s. Options include seafood-focused starters like Blue Bay mussels and Yellowfin Tuna crudo, a selection of vegetables, salads, and sides, an entrée menu with larger plates like Branzino or Ribeye for two, and a drink menu focused on original hand-crafted cocktails as well as European wines by the glass or bottle.

Our starting dishes were plated like works of art the Marinated Lamb Chop with mint, Piri Piri sauce, and lime is not to be missed. And the Yellowfin Tuna with Uni Vinaigrette, radish, and scallions is almost too pretty to eat. We enjoyed the shareable small plates while sipping on the seasonal cocktails.

We also could not resist trying the Octopus a la Plancha with roasted peppers, capers, and olive. Let’s face it octopus is a dish you absolutely love to treat yourself to at a restaurant. Personally we have never even attempted to make it at home and we all have been doing a lot of cooking at home since March.

Don’t pass on the Corn Ravioli with chanterelle, tomato, and banyuls. These flavorful homemade pastas delivered a punch of fresh flavor in even the smallest bite. And we were very pleased with the Roasted Beets served in a pool of Fromage Blanc, with pistachio and maple vinaigrette. Other vegetable focused plates can be shared or served as side dishes. We loved the color and flavor of the Heirloom Carrots which are roasted with a carrot top gremolata and honey drizzle. Other vegetable options include Grilled Broccoli and Crushed Fingerling Potatoes.

For the main course we tried the Viking Village Scallop with curry of carrot, chervil, and roasted turnips. This light dish was ideal after filling up on so many appetizer plates. We also couldn’t resist the 7 Day Aged Pork Chop which was a generous portion and great for sharing. Other entrees designed to be shared include the Branzino for 2 with black pepper sauce, garlic, and cilantro or the Ribeye for 2 with tomato butter, salsa verde, and pee wee potato. Vegetarians will enjoy the Ricotta Gnocchi with eggplant, tomato, and raisins.

For dessert we were absolutely swooning over the Panna Cotta with fresh berries and the Peanut Butter Mousse Brownie with ice cream. Both desserts were an excellent way to end our meal. We cannot wait to come back to Clementine’s. If you’d like to stop by to experience brunch or dinner reservations can be made on Resy. Clementine’s is now offering guests both indoor and outdoor dining seating in addition to takeout options on Tuesdays through Thursdays 5 pm to 9 pm and Fridays through Saturdays from 5 pm to 10 pm. Brunch is also available on the weekends, Saturday and Sunday from 10:30 am to 3 pm.
