Have you been to the Best of Philly 2016 Best New Beer Garden? If not, we’re sorry but you’re missing out- luckily they’ll be open into the Fall! SkyGarten opened in June 2016 to rave reviews and massive crowds. It was no surprise that Philadelphia was immediately in love with this rooftop beer garden 51 floors above the city! Located at Top of the Tower at 1717 Arch Street, Doug Hager and his team from Brauhaus Schmitz joined forces with Top of the Tower to bring you one of the highest beer gardens in the world.
SkyGarten has just announced it will be open into the Fall season. With both East and West facing balconies, the view is beyond breathtaking. And don’t forget about the drinks, acclaimed bartender Jesse Cornell heads the beverage program showcasing craft cocktails and well-sourced wines by the glass. We highly recommend the High Heat cocktail with jalapeno-infused tequila, lemon, and aperol this drink packs a punch! For something more subtle, the Skyy Pineapple Spritz is light and refreshing. If you’re a beer lover we’d say go local with Double Nickel German-style pilsner from NJ or try one of our seasonal favorites, Schofferhofer Grapefruit Wheat beer.
Quench your thirst and enjoy some delicious snacks too! Brauhaus Schmitz’s Executive Chef Jeremy Nolen works in tandem with the Top of the Tower culinary team to execute a menu of bar bites and snacks fit for a German beer garden. We tried the Bratwurst Sandwich, Potato Pancakes, and Kung Pao Wings. But will have to come back real soon for the Fried Cheese Curds which sound like the perfect side to an ice cold beer.
SkyGarten is open Wednesday-Friday 5-10 pm and Saturday 6-11 pm with a new happy hour being offered 5-7 pm featuring $3 craft canned beers, $4 German drafts, $5 wines (white, red, rose, and sparkling) and $6 cocktails. Don’t miss your chance to experience this unique beer garden!
