The day is finally here. What better way to celebrate National Dessert Day with none other than the grandest of all dessert destinations, Grand Lux Cafe, with locations in King of Prussia, PA and Cherry Hill, New Jersey its only a short drive from Philadelphia!
Executive Chef Ana Funes gave us quite a sweet show for this scrumptious celebration. She and the Grand Lux Cafe crew showcased a number of their baked-to-order desserts prepared fresh out of the oven as well as a demonstration on the how-to’s for making the perfect Warm Sticky Bun Bread Pudding. We also got to taste some of their signature appetizers and cocktails including the Buffalo Chicken Rolls, Asian Nachos, and Ahi Tuna Ceviche. Despite our love for all things savory, our mouth’s were watering with anticipation for the sugar rush that was about to ensue!
A world of food awaits at Grand Lux Cafe, where internationally inspired cuisine is served in an elegant but relaxed setting. Created by the insatiable founders of The Cheesecake Factory®, Grand Lux Cafe first opened in Las Vegas at the famed Venetian Resort, Hotel and Casino, and was inspired by extensive European travel exploring Italian trattorias, French bistros and the grand cafes and pastry shops of Vienna.”
Grand Lux Cafe prides itself in it’s baked to order desserts. Each dessert is made with love, executing all of their desserts in the highest level possible with the freshest ingredients. Grand Lux Cafe encourages customers to come in for dessert and coffee, allowing visitors to experience a quality home made dessert. Please, do not be in any rush when preparing to dine on these delectables. Some desserts may take up to 20 minutes to prepare. And trust us, these desserts are well worth the wait.
Let the drooling commence. We will start with the New Orleans Beignets. No need to go down the bayou, these babies are it! Made to perfection with homemade batter and served warm with raspberry, vanilla, and chocolate sauce for dipping. The beignets are great for sharing between 2-4 people. We, personally, could only eat them for the rest of our lives and be completely cool with it. They are just that delicious.
For those who enjoy a flair of fruit with their dessert, do yourself a favor and try out the Key Lime Pie and Warm Rustic Apple Pie. The Key Lime Pie is baked with a graham cracker-pecan crust and dolloped with fresh whipped cream. The Apple Pie has a flaky, sugary crust bursting with fresh apples, and of course, finished off with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and caramel. Perfect for this fall season.
If you’re a chocolate lover, or have a hankering for something delicately rich, the Warm Butter Cake and the Molten Chocolate Cake are your answers. Both delights have a rich and creamy center and served with vanilla ice cream. You will truly see why these two desserts are some of the most popular and favorited by many.
Grand Lux Cafe plans to roll out a new menu in about two months. This new menu includes a brand new dessert, a 12 oz. Pot de Creme. If two months is far to long to wait to try the Pot de Creme, or any of the above luxuries we have described, we’ll shared with you the recipe for the Warm Sticky Bun Bread Pudding this Sunday. You’re welcome and happy National Dessert Day!
