Rooster Soup Co. Late Night Breakfast

Eat, drink and be scary this Saturday, October 28th from 8:00 pm- 1:00 am with a very special Halloween edition of Rooster Soup Co.’s Late Night Breakfast featuring Big Gay Ice Cream.  Come dressed in costume for “Skaraoke” with karaoke queen, Sara Sherr.  Beer takeover by our friends at Delco, PA’s 2SP Brewing.
Some of the special one-night-only Big Gay Menu highlights include Fries and a Freezy, french fries and milkshake, (intended for dipping) for $8, Apple Pie with Speculoos Ice Cream and Bourbon Caramel Sauce for $8, and a Rocky Roadhouse Waffle with a chocolate waffle, vanilla ice cream, and marshmallow for $10.  On the savory side from Rooster chefs Mike Ran and Jarrett O’Hara: The Rooster Breakfast Burger, with a fried egg and bacon and Poutine with sausage gravy, hawaij and an egg.  To drink, four draft lines flowing from 2SP Brewing include their Pilsner, Boutique Belgique, Delcofest, and Baby Bob Stout for $5/each.
In 2014, Broad Street Ministry (BSM) and Federal Donuts partnered with more than 1,500 supporters to crowdfund a restaurant that would convert unused food into meals and services for people who need it most. Every week, Federal Donuts turns 500 pounds of spare chicken parts into the broth that becomes the backbone of Rooster Soup Company. With your simple and generous act of eating a meal here, you are helping to provide hospitality to those who are often least likely to receive it.
Through its Hospitality Collaborative, BSM served more than 76,000 meals in 2016. But it is NOT a soup kitchen. Guests are seated by a host and eat a three course meal served by a volunteer waitstaff and prepared by a professional chef and kitchen crew. It’s the same hospitality we aim for here.
And that’s not all. BSM is the mailing address for more than 3,000 people, enabling them to be eligible to get an ID, housing, employment and benefits. There is a clothing closet, personal care packages, medical care, legal services, benefits and housing assistance. The list goes on and on.  But all of these services cost money. And that’s where you come in. 100% of the profits of this restaurant support the Hospitality Collaborative’s mission of providing meals and social services for Philadelphia’s most vulnerable citizens. So from everyone at Broad Street Ministry, Federal Donuts and Rooster Soup Company, thank you!
