I don’t know about you, but every single time I log into Facebook, I’ve started to see these speed cook videos pop up. And I watch them, every time. Sometimes, I find myself thinking, that looks absolutely disgusting.. other times, I find myself copying the link and sending it to the boyfriend for him to weigh in on. Sometime last week, I saw a Buzzfeed Tasty video for Taco Pie. I don’t know why, but it called my name, and I’ve been pestering Ryan to make it for me ever since (trust me, you don’t want me to cook).
The Crust:
1/4 cup butter, chopped
1/4 Tsp Salt
3 Tbsp Water
Cheese (Tasty used American Cheese Slices, we used shredded)
1 cup flour
Blend it all together in a mixer, adding the water last. Roll it out and put it in the pie pan. Bake at 400* for 15 minutes.
The Taco Filling
1/2 cup onion
1/2 cup salsa
Taco Seasoning
Refried Beans
1 lb meat (Tasty used ground beef, we changed it to ground turkey)
Cook the onions and meat together. Add the salsa and taco seasoning. Once cooked, layer the pie: cheese, meat, beans, and cheese, and bake until the cheese is melted. After, add shredded lettuce, tomato, onion, and sour cream. Let cool, and serve warm.
Deeeeeeeeeeelicious.
While it got a little messy, I think it was tasty. I would make it again (and will definitely eat the leftovers in our fridge). If you try this, let us know how yours turns out! I think next time I would add jalapeños and black olives to the top, for some extra flavor.
