Celebrate the 2016 Rio Summer Olympics at Bank & Bourbon

Stop by Bank & Bourbon now until August 21st to celebrate the 2016 Rio Summer Olympics with a Bluecoat Caipirinha cocktail and delicious small plates! These refreshing summer cocktails are made with Bluecoat Gin distilled right here in South Philadelphia and perfect for summer. This distinctly crafted Caipirinha was created by expert mixologist Paul Zuber combining the fresh flavors of sugar, Brazilian cachaça and lime for sport enthusiasts to enjoy while watching the global games.

In the spirit of competition and with all eyes on Brazil, Loews Hotels is celebrating the Rio games with a twist on the host country’s Caipirinhas that reflect the distinctiveness of our destinations,” says Mark Weiss, Senior Vice President of Food & Beverage at Loews Hotels. “We’re excited to offer guests a chance to toast their favorite teams and competitors.

Inspired by the traditional Brazilian cocktail, below is the Bluecoat Caipirinha recipe that Loews Philadelphia is serving up for guests to enjoy  until August 21st during their visit or recreate at home:

  • 2 oz. Bluecoat gin
  • 5 muddled limes
  • Sugar in the raw simple syrup
  • Serve over crushed ice with a float of 21st Amendment’s Hell or High Watermelon Wheat Ale

Stop in and grab this special drink to celebrate the 2016 Rio Summer Olympics! The restaurant bar has televisions where customers can watch and cheer on their favorite team.

We loved pairing this drink with some of our favorite small plates from Bank & Bourbon including one of our favorites, the Warm Summer Corn Salad made with local roasted corn, snow peas, candied walnuts, lime and Parmesan, Local Cheese Plate with harbison jasper hill cow’s milk, the last straw sheep’s milk, amish noble cave aged cheddar cow’s milk, sharp 2 goat’s milk, and birchrun blue, or the Taste of Ham with goat butter, crusty bread, Hamery, Benton’s Ham, and Creminelli Proscuitto.

We would like to thank Jaimi and Loews Philadelphia for inviting us in to try these wonderful summer drinks and small plates.
