The Twisted Tail- Brunch

What could be more refreshing than a boozy brunch with light and deliciously fruity drinks? We’ve loved stopping by The Twisted Tail for dinner and knew we would be back to check out their brunch menu. This is most definitely one of our favorite, totally underrated brunch spots – go check it out! They’re serving up the perfect brunch cocktails for summer with their Champagne Popsicle drinks and Punch Bowls. Pair these drinks with a variety of small plates and you’re got the recipe for success.

Brunch is served Saturday 11 am- 4 pm and Sundays 10 am- 4 pm. Reservations can easily be made via Opentable for indoor or outdoor dining. Stop by on Saturdays and receive $10 off your punch bowl! We our Strawberry Mint and Gin Punch Bowl and its got plenty to go around, the small serves 4-6 people. Of course we’d also highly recommend the Champagne Popsicle drinks. Let the summer heat melt a homemade fruit puree popsicle into your glass of champagne infusing it with delicious fruit flavor. We tried the pineapple and lemon popsicles, but they also offer other fruit flavors like strawberry.

If you don’t want a boozy brunch, La Columbe coffee is also served here. Try one of the amazing salads offered for summer like the Heirloom Beets Salad with yogurt, candied ginger, and mizzuna. We would also recommend the Watermelon & Tomato Salad with aged sherry vinaigrette, and feta. The Summer Squash Salad with Capra Sarda, pecan, mizuna, and honey vinaigrette also sounds delightful. If you’re looking for a little more of an indulgence we always recommend the Crawfish Mac & Cheese with aged cheddar, and toasted breadcrumbs. But what really blew us away were the Beer-Battered Cheese Curds with a side of Thousand Island, and spicy tomato jam these balls of cheesy melty gooey deliciousness are not to be missed. There are 6 to an order and were quickly devoured.  Dare we say this might be the best fried cheese curds we’ve had in Philadelphia. Lightly battered, crispy on the outside and oozing with cheese inside they are simply perfection.

For the more traditionalists, Smoked Salmon Pumpernickel Toast is an ideal starter with cream cheese, chives, and capers its easy to see why this is one of the more popular menu items. Some of your other breakfast favorites can also be found like Fried Chicken & Sweet Potato Waffle, where the chicken is bourbon battered. If you’ve got a bit of a sweet tooth you’ll enjoy the Praline French Toast with brioche, pecans, and bourbon soaked pineapple. Carnivores enjoy the Brisket Omelet with cheddar, caramelized onions, and spicy tomato jam.

Since we love seafood we had to try the Jumbo Lump Crab Cake served on a plate with mustard, turnip, and bell pepper this dish looked like a work of art! The Fried Eggplant Sandwich is also a new menu item with bacon jam, pesto, lettuce, and tomato. And of course you couldn’t even go wrong ordering the The Twisted Burger with bacon, blue cheese, and bourbon BBQ sauce. Soak up the last of summer with brunch at The Twisted Tail!

And don’t fret the month of September is bringing great events to- since September is Bourbon Heritage Month there will be FREE whiskey tastings every Friday at 5 pm.
