Well then you’ll want to check out Square 1682, Rittenhouse Square’s Modern American Kitchen + Cocktails, to check out the launch of Executive Chef Bobby Surdam’s new seasonal spring Express Lunch menu! Some of Surdam’s new seasonal dishes include Chilled Asparagus Soup, a daily Frittata, and a vegan Cauliflower Po’ Boy. Popular returning items include Square 1682’s popular Bacon Wrapped Dates, Power Up Salad, and crispy Salmon Caesar.
This meal is designed for those on-the-go, Square 1682’s new Express Lunch Trays are set up in a prix fixe format where everything on the menu is offered for just $19.99. Think of it like an upscale American bento box of sorts! All dishes are served at once. The special is available Monday-Friday from 11:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. with the promise of getting hungry lunchtime diners in and out in about 45 minutes. Plus there is always complimentary Truffle Butter Popcorn to snack on before your meal comes out.
“We understand how busy our clientele often is so we wanted to give them a lunchtime options that’s delicious, fulfilling and gets them to their next meeting on time,” Surdam said. “Conversely, we still have a full a la carte menu for those looking for a leisurely experience.”
Guests will have their choice of a selection of “Snacks” including appetizers like Bacon Wrapped Dates paired with goat cheese, Crispy Calamari tossed in shishito peppers, parsley and cajun remoulade and a bowl of Chilled Asparagus Soup or Chicken Noodle Soup filled with patty pan squash, zucchini and orecchiette, among the mix. We of course opted for the famous Square 1682 Bacon Wrapped Date and Crispy Calamari.
Next in the “Sandwiches & Salads” section, entree choices include a deliciously decadent Short Rib Cheesesteak roasted with peppers and onion marmalade; Falafel Sandwich with chickpea fritter, chow chow, cucumber yogurt, capers and ciabatta;   Fried Chicken Sandwich with spiced buttermilk chicken, smoked applewood bacon, brioche and house-made ranch; and the Square 1682 burger with Cabot cheddar, onion marmalade, pecan-wood smoked bacon, and fries, among additional offerings. We tried out the decadent cheesesteak and opted to be a little more healthy with the Turkey Burger topped with goat cheese.
Guests can satisfy their sweet tooth with a selection of “Sweets,” we tried the Giant Homemade House Cookie and fruit salad. Another great way to satisfy your sweet craving in a healthful way is Square 1682’s house-made healthy raw juices ($9), Being Green, Beets Me or Daily Dose. Lunch reservations at Square 1682 are available via OpenTanle and delivery is now available via Caviar
