National Ravioli Day at Panorama

Celebrate National Ravioli Day all week Sunday, March 18th to Friday, March 23rd with half-priced ravioli and optional Sommelier-suggested wine pairings all week in Old City. You’ll find all the authentic flavors of Italy right in the heart of the Old City, at Panorama Restaurant at the Penn’s View Hotel.

You’ll surely feel like you’re living La Vita Bella when you taste these handmade fresh stuffed pastas made with top quality ingredients. Panorama was recently renovated by owner Luca Sena and internationally acclaimed designer Marguerite Rodgers. Savor Italian specialties such as raviolis from their regular menu stuffed with burrata cheese, beef shank, or lamb shoulder. Plus for Ravioli Week the chef has prepared 3 exclusive pasta specials with some of the best flavors wrapped inside a pasta. Stop by for lunch or dinner and enjoy the full restaurant menu as well!

Wine connoisseurs at Panorama are able to sample to their hearts delight with a list including 30 flights of 5 wines or by the glass with the help of a unique custom-built wine dispensary that offers over 120 wines by the glass.  One of the best wine bars in Philadelphia, Panorama provides an unrivaled opportunity to taste a wide selection of spectacular vintages.

For Ravioli week the half priced dishes are available during both lunch and dinner in a half portion or full portion. We recommend ordering a few smaller portions so that you’re able to taste a bit of everything! We loved the plating of the Tortellini with lamb shoulder agrodolce, sunchoke, and a swirl of black garlic pesto. This dish is offered on the regular menu and it’s suggested pairing is the Bin #32 Tempranillo “Roja-Reserva” Promesa ’11 ($9 for 3oz, $15 for 5oz, $75 a bottle). We also enjoyed a full portion of the Ravioli with roast pork, oyster mushroom, shaved fennel, and sopressata suga from the regular menu. This is paired with Bin #32 Ruche di Castagnole Monferrato, Montalbera ’15, ($8.5 for 3oz, $14 for 5oz, $70 a bottle).

The Casoncelli, is a special feature for Ravioli Week and perhaps one of our favorites! This beef osso bucco filled pasta is garnished with hen of the woods mushroom, and casatica. It is paired with a Bin #99 Sangiovese “Rosso di Montalcino” Pietranera ’15, ($10.5 for 3oz, $17 for 5oz, $85 a bottle). We loved the classic Agnolotti, which is a half moon shaped pasta, burrata filled with a thick san marzano tomato sauce over top. This pasta is suggested with the Bin #211 Lambrusco Grasparossa di Castelvetro “Organically Grown” La Battagliola ’15, ($8 for 3oz, $13 for 5oz, $65 a bottle).

We loved the super unique and colorful Caramelle, made especially for Ravioli week. This dish has verde capra cheese stuffed pasta, topped with citrus from preserved kumquat, and arugula. It is enjoyed with Bin #68 Ribona “Monteferro” Villa Forano ’14, ($8.5 for 3oz, $14 for 5oz, $70 a bottle). The most decadent dish is perhaps the massive Raviolo, this large pasta is filled with egg yolk and black truffle potato, and sprinkled with homemade butter parmigiano reggiano. You’ll feel as if you’re popping a poached egg when slicing into it as the rich yolk soaks the place. Try this with the Bin #86 Nebbiolo “Langhe-Bricco Magno” Villadoria ’14, ($8 for 3oz, $13 for 5oz, $65 a bottle).

Don’t wait! Reservations are easily made via OpenTable, but are sure to fill up for Ravioli Week. If you don’t get a reservation its always a great idea to stop by Panorama Restaurant during happy hour Monday-Friday to enjoy some wine and half priced antipasti small plates. Mhmmm now we’re getting hungry….
