P’unk Burger

Since opening in 2015, P’unk Burger has sold over 50,000 burgers, 20,000 shakes and 20,000 lbs of fries so you know they’re doing something right! Marlo and Jason Dilks, owners of Slice Pizza, decided to bring their fast-casual gourmet to East Passyunk with P’unk Burger. The restaurant is BYOB and offers customers all organic burgers, sides, salads, and shakes- plus many vegan options too!

Punk Burger has provided East Passyunk and South Philly with a healthier alternative for families that want to enjoy a burger and shake, but who also want to eat better and care about what they put into their bodies. Burgers are made from humanely-raised, grass-fed cows that are antibiotic, pesticide, and hormone-free.  Seafood is wild-caught, sodas are fair trade, and ice cream is locally sourced.

The Dilks family has a long history in Philadelphia and have watched East Passyunks shift from mostly retail stores to more and more restaurants. With P’unk Burger they wanted to give customers a better version of the American comfort food we all love. The menu offers a variety of creative burgers in addition to the option to create your own! Burgers are cooked medium unless requested and served on a brioche style roll that is 100% vegan! They’ve also got gluten free rolls.

June’s Special Burger of the Month is the Smoked BBQ, Bacon & Blue with smoked beef, bacon, blue cheese, BBQ sauce, lettuce, tomato, and red onion. June’s Special Salad of the Month is the Shrimp & Avocado Salad with spring mix, grilled shrimp, avocado, corn, tomato, red onion and cilantro lime vinaigrette. And June’s Special Shake of the Month is Caramel Apple Jacks with vanilla ice cream, Apple Jack’s cereal, and caramel sauce!

P’unk Burger also runs a “Lunch Combo” special everyday of the week from 10 am – 3 pm. It includes a burger, fries, and drink  for $13 and you can upgrade to a shake for an additional $3! All sides are made in house and include Thin Cut Idado Fries and Sweet Potato Fries (with sea salt, old bay, or truffle oil); Onion Rings, Fried Mozzarella, Tater Tots, and Pickle Chips. If you can’t decide they also offer the “Half & Half combo” which is 2 sides for $5.

Don’t forget to try the Punk Signature Sauce as a dip or on your burger. This unique sauce is offered along with a variety of others like Ketchup, Buffalo Sauce, BBQ Sauce, Sriracha, Yellow Mustard, Spicy Mustard, San Marzano Tomato Sauce, Veganaise (all vegan and gluten free). Plus Mayo, Horseradish Mayo, Chipotle Mayo, Malt Vinegar Mayo, Wasabi Sauce, and P’unk Mustard (also gluten-free).

Some of the most popular signature burgers served at P’unk Burger are the Jalapeno Burger with a beef patty , pepperjack cheese, cilantro, 1732 Garlic Insanity Bacon, and housemade pico de gallo and the Mediterranean Burger with lamb patty, feta cheese, red onion, and tzatziki sauce. Vegan customers also rave about the Vegan Pulled Portobello Sandwich made with shredded portobello stems, P’unk sauce, onion, tomato, veganaize cole slaw and sweet potato fries on top!

We loved the Jalapeno Burger, but also enjoy the idea of creating your own burger masterpiece! We’ve recreated a Buffalo Chicken type sandwich in the past since P’unk burger gives you the option of beef, turkey, lamb, chicken, ahi tuna, veggie or grilled portobello as your protein! Of course they’ve also got a huge variety of cheese options also: american, cheddar, provolone, pepper jack, swiss, mozzarella, beer and mustard cheddar, bleu cheese, feta, fried mozzarella, smoked gouda, and even daiya vegan mozzarella!

And since its the summer time, we know that a crisp salad can sometimes be what you’re craving. P’unk Burger has got you covered too! Our favorite was the Seared Ahi Tuna and Seaweed Salad with seared ahi tuna, bibb lettuce, seaweed salad, sliced avocado, edamame, red bell peppers, and sesame ginger dressing. They also offer a Bibb & Bleu Salad with bibb lettuce, bleu cheese, pears, walnuts, and balsamic vinaigrette. They’re also serving up a Spinach Salad with portobello mushroom, bleu cheese, hard boiled egg, and balsamic vinaigrette.

And we can’t forget about the kids! P’unk burger is also serving up a “Little P’unks Menu” with sliders or grilled cheese. A side of avocado fries can also be substituted instead of french fries or tater tots. And give them some change to play at the game table in the front window too. Proceeds from the machine each month go to different charity- recently donations were made to Autism Awareness Give Kids Sight Day with Wills Eye Hospital.

And we can’t forget about the shakes! There are so may options to choose from. Start with a base of whole milk, almond milk, or soy milk. Then add in some local ice cream from vendors like Little Baby’s or Franklin Fountain. Dairy flavors include vanilla, chocolate, smores, PB & Bacon Jam, salted avocado, chocolate banana, and more. They’re even making the classic Black and White milkshake with Nutella! Many vegan ice cream flavors are also available many of them coconut based.

Reservations are not required so stop by P’unk Burger next time you’re walking down East Passyunk Ave. Delivery is also available online so you can enjoy it right from your couch!
